Black Mountain In The Future
Black Mountain's new album, In The Future, comes out January 22, 2008. By what I've heard the album seems to be a full on rock album taking influences form legends like Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Zeppelin and others, all of which are clearly visible in "Tyrants".

Dan Bejar's "Hello, Blue Roses"
Now that his other music projects, Destroyer and The New Pornographers, have their new albums out, Dan Bejar has announced that his latest music project "Hello, Blue Roses" will be releasing its debut album this January on the 22nd. In the company of Dan Bejar is Sydney Vermont. Despite them being in a relationship, the two have worked together before in "Bonaparte", along with Steve Wood (The Battles), Josh Lindstrom (The Precious Feathers, the Awkward Stage), and Krista Marshall.
In an emial to PitchFork, Vermont says the band was created out of sheer boredom. "The glory of a two person band: 'I'm bored, want to record an HBR song? OK!'".
Though Dan Bejar is the big name in the band Vermont describes the set up as her writing the lyrics and melodies, singing, and playing flute, "while beau Dan "'arrangers, adds instrumentation, and sings back-up'". Bejar's comment was, "'I am a budding engineering star.'"
Though the band will not be releasing their album till January 22nd, they will be splitting two singles. The first comes out December 4 with Frog Eyes taking up the first two songs of the single.
A1 Frog Eyes: "Policy Merchant 2: Ah Shit Man"
A2 Frog Eyes: "Stockades 2: You Are the Water..."

B2 Hello Blue Roses: "Wall of Death (Richard and Linda Thompson cover)"
Then, the duo will split its second single with "Starless & Bible Black" who will release their track "Calico" while HBR contributes the Album's title track, which is the bands name with out the coma.

Hollywood?
Hollywood, it seems, has really put forth a lot of music contributions this fall. Natalie Portman just released her charity mixtape "Big Change: Songs for FINCA" oct. 30th, featuring exclusive material from several artist like Beirut and Devendra Benhart. So if your looking for some good music and a way to help the world, go download "Big Change: Songs for FINCA" off itunes.

Then, on the 21st of this month Todd Hyne's "I'm Not There" is coming out. The film features six different actors, including Cate Blanchett and Christian bale, playing the role of Bob Dylan. Each actor is, in theory, suppose to represent a different stage in Dylan's life. This technique is meant to depict "the poetic narrative style utilized in Dylan's songwriting". The title, "I'm Not There", is a reference outtake song of the same name. The song was cut from "The Basement Tapes" and will for the first time be released officially on the movie's soundtrack, which came out oct. 30th.
On Soundtrack:
Bob Dylan - I'm Not There
Sufjan Stevens - Ring Them Bells (Bob Dylan Cover)
Not:
Andrew Bird & Nora Connor - Oh Sister (Bob Dylan Cover)
Sophie Ziemani - Most of the Time (Bob Dylan Cover)
Ridley Scott, it seems, is not only an inspiration to film school students but world renowned rappers as well. On Nov. 6th Jay-Z's tenth album will be released sharing the same name as the major motion picture, "American Gangster". As well as being inspired by the movie Jay-Z also inserts snippets of dialogue from the movie itself into several of his songs. Here is "Ignorant Shit" off the new album, which also samples "Big Poppa" by The Notorious B.I.G. and "Between the Sheets" by The Isley Brothers.
